The Lion, the Fox, and the Star

In a jungle in India lived two good friends – a young lion and a young fox. One day both these animals went out for a stroll in the jungle. The sky at that time was pleasant and clear with orange and purple hues. One could easily see a bright star twinkling in the sky, and it was none other than the star Venus or Shukra.

The young fox looked up with a sparkling wonder in this eyes. “Wow, look at that bright star in the sky. I wish I could fly up to it, and play with it,” he said. The young fox wanted to jump from one twinkling star to another, and he thus looked up at the star dreamily.

The lion heard the fox and started chuckling. He shook his mane and said, “Hmm, I wish the star would come down to the Earth to play with me. That would be such a fun.”

Sitting on a peepal tree nearby was an old owl. The owl was listening to the young ones talking about the star in the sky. He ruffled his feathers and hooted wisely, “A person’s thoughts reveal their true nature. Some dream of reaching the stars, while others wait for the stars to come to them.”

The lion and the fox heard what the old owl said and looked at each other. Well, did they truly understand the words the wise owl said? I guess that is for us to guess!

Moral of the Story

Our words often reflect who we really are. While some of us chase dreams, there are others who wait for those dreams to come true.

What do you think about this story? Do you think the young animals were wise enough to understand what the old owl said? Do leave a comment 🙂
